Vocus Group, Australia’s specialist fibre and network solutions provider, has today announced a solid step forward in its Future State program to simplify, modernise and consolidate its multiple legacy networks.
Vocus Group CEO, Kevin Russell, said “Our goal is to deliver brilliant simplicity to our customers, making it simple and easy for them to connect with an industry leading network and better manage their service requirements.”
“We are delighted to announce today the appointment of Arista Networks, Ciena’s Blue Planet and DGIT Systems as key technology partners. All share Vocus’ drive for innovation and will help us deliver market-leading experiences for our customers,” he said.
The Future State Program will create a network that is designed for the customer and will transform Vocus’ operations and business agility.
Customers will be able to dynamically control their network services through real-time bandwidth changes, and benefit from the latest technology and products that will effectively suit their unique business requirements.
“We’re building a digital network that puts the tools and capability in the customers’ hands, and intelligently gives the power back to the customer,” Mr Russell said.
Vocus has hand-picked three technology partners who share the same values and energy for disruptive thinking in the market, in order to set the industry benchmark on customer experience.
Arista Networks has been appointed the supplier of Vocus’ Layer 2 and Layer 3 network equipment.
It is a leader in building scalable, high-performance and ultra-low latency cloud networks with low power consumption and a small footprint for data centre and campus environments.
Arista has a prestigious set of customers and is committed to open standards across private, public and hybrid cloud networks.
“We are pleased to be working with Vocus Group as they are a great match with our culture of innovation. We look forward to working together to expand our highly programmable and automated Arista EOS cloud networking platforms in Australia,” said Chief Customer Officer for Arista Networks, Manuel Rivelo.
Blue Planet – a division of Ciena
Blue Planet will provide automation software and professional services to give Vocus deep insights and control of its new programmable network, help transform operations and optimise business processes.
Driven by analytics and intelligence, Blue Planet’s approach to automation helps bring IT and network operations together to enhance agility and reliability of service.
“Innovators like Vocus recognise the value of leveraging automation to meet the changing demands of customers who seek more than just basic connectivity with their telco. With Blue Planet, Vocus is building an adaptive network that is flexible, scalable, programmable and – most importantly – more responsive to deliver a superior experience for their customers,” said Senior Vice President, Blue Planet, a division of Ciena, Rick Hamilton.
Melbourne-born DGIT Systems will provide advanced business support systems capabilities to Vocus.
DGIT supplies Tier 1 and Tier 2 telco providers globally with dynamic catalogue driven solutions based on open architectures. The business is a major contributor to the API standards developed by TM Forum and the Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF), allowing for the introduction of further technology partners in the future.
“We are proud to have been selected by Vocus and to partner with them to transform their service delivery. Vocus is embracing a future of dynamic networks and a plug-and-play partnering approach which makes our technology a great fit,” said CEO DGIT Systems, Greg Tilton.
