Vocus appointed to new Commonwealth Telecommunications Marketplace Panel

Vocus, Australia’s specialist fibre and network solutions provider, has secured and expanded its position as a trusted provider to the Federal Government through its appointment to the new Commonwealth Telecommunications Marketplace (TMP).

Vocus’ appointment to the TMP enables the company to tender for services to Government agencies under an expanded remit of eight categories: Data Carriage, Internet Carriage, Voice Carriage, Unified Communications, Dark Fibre, Satellite Carriage, Managed WAN and Common Services.

Vocus Group CEO Kevin Russell said the appointment to the TMP was a sign of the ongoing trust and confidence in the services Vocus was delivering the Federal Government.

“We’re very pleased to have the opportunity to continue partnering as a key service provider to the Federal Government and its authorised parties,” Mr Russell said.

“With our national fibre network that is purpose-built for government and enterprise customers, and our world-class technical expertise and solutions, we have a proven track record of delivering mission-critical services for the Federal Government.”

“It’s exciting to be able to play our part in providing the secure, reliable and high-capacity fibre and network solutions for Australia’s national interests today and in the future,” he said.

Managed by the Federal Government’s Digital Transformation Agency (DTA), the TMP replaces the 2016 Telecommunications Services Panel (TSP). making it easier for government agencies to buy a broader range of ICT services from a shortlist of approved suppliers.

Already a long-standing provider to the Federal Government under the Nextgen Networks brand, which Vocus acquired in October 2016, the appointment of Vocus to the TMP reflects the broader suite of capabilities Vocus brings such as Satellite Carriage, Voice and Unified Communications.

Under the former TSP, Vocus has successfully tendered and delivered a significant number of contracts for Federal Government agencies, including connectivity and solutions for the Bureau of Meteorology, the Department of Finance’s Government Network Services Branch, Department of Treasury, Australian Securities and Investment Commission (ASIC), Department of Defence, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, and Department of Education, Skills and Employment.

Vocus’ appointment to the TMP is for an initial period to 30 June 2022, with the DTA having the option to extend up to 30 June 2029.
