    Network

    What network does Vocus Mobile use?

    Vocus Mobile uses the Optus network. This means your Vocus Mobile SIM operates on the same mobile network as an Optus customer.

    What is 5G?

    5G is the next generation mobile network technology, offering significantly faster speeds, lower latency, and improved reliability compared to 4G . Standard 5G network uses bands N78, and requires a 4G LTE connection. When not in a 5G coverage area, compatible devices will switch to the 4G LTE network where it is available. 4G Network uses LTE bands B1, B3, B7, B28, and B40.

    What is the difference between 4G and 5G?

    5G delivers higher speeds, reduced lag, and better performance in demanding applications such as live video conferencing , while 4G continues to support wide population coverage but at slower speeds.

    What is 4G Backup?

    4G Backup is a 4G mobile internet connection that automatically kicks in if your main nbn connection goes down. SIMs with 4G Backup will only work in devices capable of providing 4G backup. This will be your modem router, or your router if your modem and router are separate devices. It excludes mobile phones, IPADS and any other mobile device.

    What is a SIM-only plan?

    A SIM‑only plan provides mobile service and data without a device. It can be standalone or shared via data pooling across eligible services.

    Which mobile plan is best for my business?

    With our tailor-made plans, we will help you design the plan that meets your need and has the flex as need changes.

    What is data pooling?

    Data pooling lets you combine the included data from all eligible plans on a single account into one shared pool, which can be used by any connected service—regardless of its individual data allowance.

    Can I share data?

    Yes, our plans include a data sharing feature, allowing you to maximise value and optimise usage across all connected services on your account.

    Can I save if I have multiple plans

    Yes, our tailored plans and bundled pricing offer great value, helping you save while keeping your billing simple, predictable, and easy to manage.

    What happens if I go over my plan's included data?

    With our plans, you have flex to stay in control. You can choose a no-excess-data option, which helps manage costs by slowing your data to a maximum of 1.5Mbps—enough for general browsing and music streaming, though video may buffer.

    Alternatively, your offer may include excess data options, allowing uninterrupted high-speed usage for an additional cost tailored to your plan.

    If you're part of a shared data pool and the total allowance is exceeded, all connected services will be slowed to 1.5Mbps until your next billing cycle—unless extra data is purchased.

    Unused data expires at the end of each billing cycle. Data is counted in kilobytes and includes both uploads and downloads. If you prefer not to share data, each service must be on a separate account.

    Can I control usage per service?

    Yes! With Mobile Fleet 360, you can easily monitor top users and manage data consumption by throttling or barring data services for one or multiple users—giving you full control over your mobile fleet’s usage.

    Devices

    Can I bring my own 5G or 4G device?

    Yes. You can use a compatible 5G-capable device (physical SIM or eSIM) with a SIM‑only plan. Standard 5G network uses bands N78 and requires a 4G LTE connection.     How do I order a new SIM?

    Our self service portal allows you to order new physical or eSIMs with just a few clicks.

    Can I keep my number?

    Yes. Vocus supports number portability ("keep my number")—you can request it when ordering, and Vocus will transfer it for you.

    Yes. You can use a compatible device for either physical SIM or eSIM

    Roaming

    What international roaming options are available?

    We offer roaming packs for over 100 Zone 1 countries, with pay-as-you-go rates available for other destinations.

    Do I need to activate roaming?

    If roaming isn’t already enabled on your plan, you can activate it anytime using our self-service portal. Once active, your service will automatically use roaming packs in Zone 1 countries and pay-as-you-go rates elsewhere.
