VetPartners Australia and New Zealand, a clinical community of more than 1,000 veterinarians, wanted to transform its fragmented network infrastructure that connects more than 270 sites across Australia, New Zealand and Singapore. Specifically, the company wanted to reduce network complexity, make it easier to manage and improve efficiency by standardising its setup across diverse environments. VetPartners decided the best approach would be to consolidate telecommunications providers and work with a trusted partner to deploy and manage SD-WAN infrastructure.

Implementation
In partnership with Fortinet, we implemented a managed SD-WAN network across VetPartners locations. This collaboration involved embedding our project team into VetPartners’ team and rapidly deploying the new infrastructure at scale. In fact, the SD WAN network was rolled out at a rate of up to 18 site migrations per week.
Impact
The result: standardised, scalable and reliable network infrastructure across VetPartners’ clinics. In addition to reducing complexity and increasing efficiency, the solution centralised network monitoring and maintenance, vastly reducing the management burden for VetPartners’ IT team. It also created a strong foundation for further company growth and the next phase of VetPartners’ transformation program: migrating practice management systems to the cloud.
We were looking for a partner who could work closely with us, given the unique requirements of each of our sites… The Vocus project team really embedded itself into our team. At the height of the project, we were migrating up to 18 sites in a single week, which wouldn’t have been possible without that one-team approach.
Conclusion
The partnership between VetPartners, Fortinet and Vocus demonstrates how close collaboration and the right technology can rapidly transform complex, multi-site environments at scale. The solution also created a foundation for a modernised network of practices that reduces the administrative burden on VetPartners’ clinicians, enabling them to focus more on providing the best possible care for patients.
