Aerison Workshop

Our engineering delivery team scales quickly. And our business systems need to respond just as quickly and cost effectively.

When the resources boom was on, pockets were flush with cash and decisions were made with the mindset that the boom would never end.

Many organisations face a new reality where contracts signed without a flexible view of the future are a barrier to business profitability.

For Aerison, an Australian engineering and construction company, the long-term telecommunications and information technology contracts that were signed years before became a barrier for the business’ new owners.  To support their future business objectives, Aerison required better value and more flexibility from their telecommunications services and provider.

Aerison’s Executive Director and co-owner, Giuseppe Leone, acquired the firm in late-2016 and set a vision to secure and deliver new business. At the core of Aerison’s approach was a review of the technology platforms they use to support a more agile approach to serving customers.

“Our business is known for its flexible and clever approaches to the various engineering challenges our clients face,” said Giuseppe.  “As such our business systems also need to have the agility to adapt to the changing needs of our clients.”

“It is the reason we looked to Vocus Communications to support the dynamic nature of our business.”

A focus on the future

Aerison had signed a long-term contract with a major telecommunications provider for network and data centre colocation, which did not offer the ability to scale rapidly. Major changes came with considerable increases in costs and took months to execute.

“Our business changes rapidly, depending on the type of projects and where the job is being delivered,” said Daniel Hibbs, Executive Director and co-owner at Aerison.

“Our engineering delivery team scales quickly. And our business systems need to respond just as quickly and cost effectively.”

A smarter network approach

Aerison chose Vocus to deliver a new IP WAN and Cloud platform — a high performing, cost-effective network and business system support, which provides the ability to scale quickly in response to new projects.

Michael Simmons, Chief Executive (Enterprise & Wholesale) said the requirements of businesses like Aerison are ‘the new normal’, and technology providers need to be responsive in order to grow with them.

“We have made significant investments in technology to ensure our network and cloud platform and services are smarter, and deliver on our customers’ wider technology strategies,” said Michael. “By building and operating our own network and infrastructure, we can easily dial up our capacity when our customers need it.”
