Blaithin joined Vocus in 2021 as a Process Writer in Consumer’s Customer Operations unit. Since then, she has transitioned through the business and now holds the role of Head of Consumer Planning and Readiness, responsible for ensuring clarity on Consumer’s business priorities, optimising their planning cadence to improve organisation-wide coordination, and ensuring end-to-end business readiness at the point of in-market execution.
Throughout her 4 years at Vocus, Blaithin's journey has been marked by both career advancement and the blessing of a growing family. She feels empowered to thrive in her role while maintaining a healthy work-life balance, and has been supported to achieve this through the flexible working environment that Vocus promotes.
“Vocus has a culture that values its employees and recognises the importance of maintaining balance between work and personal wellbeing,” she says. “This has been crucial in allowing me to excel in my career and also be present as a mum of four kids.”
Vocus’ Hybrid Way of Working and supportive culture has been a perfect fit for Blaithin and her young family. The hybrid model allows team members to enjoy the benefits of working flexibly, while also being able to maintain positive workplace relationships and connections across the business.
“I feel I have the best of both worlds,” she says. “As a people leader, I have a lot on my plate, but I am very grateful that I can structure my workday in a way that allows me to be there for my family when they need me, to work from home when it best suits me, to be there for my team, and to also enjoy collaborative time in the office each week. This flexibility has allowed me to thrive in my role while also being a present and involved parent.”
Blaithin was recognised for making a significant impact on the business as a winner of Vocus’ High Achievers Program last year. She was rewarded with a trip to Hayman Island for lifting organisational performance, significantly contributing to the culture of Consumer, and engaging in various committees – all demonstrating her positive work ethic, while also being a very busy mum!
Throughout her various roles, Blaithin has also been supported to take time off to focus on her family, through Vocus’ team member benefits like Parental Leave.
“The security of paid parental leave made all the difference during those transformative early months of parenthood," she reflects. “As my family expanded - I had twins for my third pregnancy - I treasured the opportunity to bond with my newborns and adjust to our changing household dynamics, all while knowing my career at Vocus remained secure and waiting for my return.”
When asked what advice she would give to other working parents, Blaithin says, “Don’t be afraid to advocate for yourself and your needs. Look for an employer that offers supportive benefits and a culture that values work-life balance. Vocus supported me to move from Melbourne to Adelaide to be closer to my family, and have also supported and celebrated me in my career - you don’t have to choose between your career and your family – with the right support, you can have both.”
Blaithin is a shining example of what’s possible when employees feel supported in all aspects of their lives and are encouraged to bring their whole selves to work.
