Milestone in Vocus and Amcom merger as new products launched
Posted on August 15, 2015
Vocus Communications today launched three new products adapted from the Amcom product suite, marking a significant milestone in the two companies’ integration. Less than one month after taking ownership of Amcom, Vocus will broaden its offering with Ethernet Multipoint, SIP Trunks and IP WAN services, supporting Australian businesses with the exceptional telecommunications technology they need to grow and prosper.
Vocus CEO, James Spenceley said the merger has created more choice and competition in the market which is good news for Australian businesses.
“The combined business offers the size and scale of a national fibre and data centre footprint, without the red tape of some of our larger competitors. We’re committed to being the third force in corporate telecommunications, but more importantly, we want to be the number one choice for Australian businesses.”
“We’re delighted to be launching three new products from the Amcom suite under the Vocus brand today, just weeks after the merger was official. The message we want to share is that this is only the beginning and there will be much more to come as we continue to shake up corporate telecommunications,” Mr Spenceley said.
The three new products will allow greater choice for Vocus’ increasingly diverse customer base, offering the full spectrum of network and data needs.
“Customers want the highly personal and responsive experience of doing business with Vocus and now have more reasons to let Vocus serve their evolving communication requirements,” Mr Spenceley said.
“The introduction of Ethernet Multipoint means we can provide Ethernet services for companies that need the flexibility of a fully meshed national Ethernet network, but want to maintain control of their WAN. The Managed IP WAN product means customers that don’t want to be network experts can leave the entire network to us.
With SIP Trunks, we can also now provide the benefit of over 12 years of running a highly available voice network, while reducing the total cost of Voice over traditional ISDN services which is a huge benefit for customers.”
The new products not only service a growing and varied range of customers, but also enable all businesses to improve efficiency and productivity, while working with a telecommunications provider that truly offers exceptional network and customer service.
The national Ethernet Multipoint service (E-LAN) delivers high-speed network connectivity, easily linking multiple office locations and data centres. Delivered across 11,000 km of fibre throughout Australia and New Zealand, Ethernet Multipoint gives businesses & enterprise flexibility to scale their bandwidth as their business grows with speed options ranging up to 1Gbps to most parts of Australia and up to 10Gbps along our ever growing fibre footprint.
IP WAN services
Managed IP WAN allows businesses to completely outsource the design, implementation, management and maintenance of their Wide Area Network. With a fully monitored and managed Layer 3 network, Vocus IP WAN offers bandwidth speed options up to 10Gbps. The service is combined with a web monitoring portal delivering dynamic current performance and consumption of data. A self-managed IP WAN is also available.
SIP Trunks can significantly reduce the total cost of Voice over traditional ISDN services, whilst still offering allowing businesses to make calls from handsets and softphones to the PSTN and other IP-enabled SIP services. They allow the introduction of unified communication features into the business, including high-definition video, extension calling, and device integration such as screen sharing.
The three new products are available to all Australian businesses on the Vocus network from today. For further information, visit the Vocus website vocus.com.au.
